Although the point at which a person becomes transsexual has been discussed in the past, Mark Angelo Cummins the writer of The Mirror Makes No Sense thinks that transition begins in the mother's womb, where the fetus's brain and body fail to communicate with each other. This causes a newborn to become confused while developing into adulthood. However, there are many risks that need to be taken in order to cross the bridge and complete the entire transition. Primarily the individuals need to find doctors who are going to be able to support them while “T “hormones need to be administrated. Otherwise, when hormones are used without the care of health professionals, harmful effects can result. Among the most dangerous problems are cardiac issues, high concentrations of cholesterol, and liver malfunction. In order to achieve happiness for some F2M Trans men, there are a few stages that they have to go through.

In this primary phase, the hormonal treatment is given in shots biweekly, and it is administered by a professional of the health care community due to the fact each individual is different, and variables may differ from one patient to another. The first shots help the female's facial features to get rough, and to drop the soft tone of voice into a deep manly one. Other changes the hormones promote are the facial and body hair, the male pattern baldness, which makes them get a tough appearance. In some Female to Male bulges are developed on thighs and abdomen. In others, muscular masses are well distributed in biceps, triceps, and legs. Meanwhile, in others the effects of testosterone many influence appetite levels, and emotional responses like sadness or happiness. Then, the uses of bandages assure those F2M Trans to have a good manly look and with a flat chest. While in other Trans men testosterone effects are genetic.

In the second phase , after a long period of time on the hormonal therapy, the use of bandages becomes necessary to completely disappear the breasts, to have a better and stronger masculine look, and to be completely passable. During the time in which they are bandaged from 8 – 10 hours on a daily basis, some of them decide to use them and stay the way they are. The following step is the surgical procedure, mastectomy. In this step the removal of breast tissues is done, allowing them to obtain a flat chest and successful life as a man. As a result, on some individuals the scarring is sometimes minimal. Not only would this depend from surgeon to surgeon and the different techniques they use during the operational phase, but also from patient to patient. Some may have long thick scars, while others, the same type of scarring at first, but then smoothing as the days are elapsing. Once they have finished with the hormonal process, and some time on a bandage period, certain F2M Trans men feel they have completed. Certainly, other individuals do not think the same way. They want to continue the process.

In the third phase, many transsexuals also want to get the genital surgery. During this process in which clitoris already has been enlarged from testosterone, it can also be further extended during a procedure called metaoidioplasty. Following this they can have an even more complicated procedure named phalloplasty. During the phalloplasty procedure, surgeons create a normal penis size helped by grafts that can be taken from patients’ arms or thighs. Moreover, the enlarged urethral enables patients to urinate through the new organ. The testicles are implanted where the patient’s labia area used to be. The vagina is removed and discarded. In hysterectomy work, the vaginal skinned walls are denuding, so the orifice closes when it heals. Then, the process has been completed.
